Home Again
Well I made it back to the lower 48 after a great salmon season
Hard to believe its been a year since I left on the containership.
Kinda missed the sleep deprivation and hard work. This season kicked my ass, but we did really well
I got the chance to run a boat for some absolutely amazing folks from Oregon/Montana
Made some new pals. (Eli here torturing my crewmate Cody with a ghostfish)
Caught an insane amount of fish this year
Had some good adventures. (Conor cracking an abandoned Eagle egg we found on top of a very rickety high water tower)
The infamous Corey Arnold here, with that water tower in the background at the abandoned Nakeen Cannery
I found a bunch of old boxes from when this cannery was running, and brought some home
getting back to painting now that I started getting the feeling back in my hands
check back as these develop, hopefully they turn out allright

North to Alaska
I'm heading up to fish another Salmon season for
about a month and a half. Should be back towards the end of July
So have a good 4th, set off some fireworks for me, and hopefully I'll see ya when I return!

Some Philly Love
Took a bus down to Philly last weekend to catch up with my ol pal Birdie Busch
She played an amazing show, unfortunately my camera died, but I found some vid of the show where the wonderfully "Dylan-esque" Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog took the stage
not gonna lie, kinda developed a man crush on him. We went to a party at his place afterwards, very cool people. West Philly is an amazing place!

Hamm's the Beer Refreshing!
my old man always sang this song when I was growing up. cartoons selling beer, so amazing
my brothers and I had no idea what the hell he was singing about
now we do, maybe this crazy internet will catch on?

New York is in-tents!
living in a tent for a month at my freinds' flat in NY
they're my old pals Gonch and Schuller, and are mad scientists working for Columbia
They don't always dress like this, unfortunately
finding myself in all sorts of weird places, like backstage at a fashion week show?
making random smaller work at a kitchen table, a nice change

SMOG
I listened to a lot of Smog while at sea
If you're doing a little soul searching, I highly reccomend
letting the words of Bill Callahan be the soundtrack

HOME!!!!!!!!
Well after over 6 months, I finally arrived in my home port of San Francisco!
The ship didn't do a full circumnavigation, but my body did, so that sorta counts
But we sure criss-crossed this crazy globe though.
Well check back in weeks to come, I should update some pics and hopefully finish up
some paintings. For now I'm gonna catch up with some fam and freinds.
So happy to be back on land. Thanks to those who emailed and supported me along the way
and if I havn't replied yet, it isn't because I dont' like you, just going through months
spam emails. I'm doing my best to get those prints out to those who wanted them. Thanks!- Martin

Shipping Out (July 09)
Well it looks like this will be my new home for the next 166 days
After years of jumping through hoops I am finally able to ship offshore!
The ship will be leaving New York, hitting a few ports on the east coast, then heading
across the Atlantic and stopping at several ports as we make our way through the Suez Canal
and moving towards Malasia. It looks like we'll hit Dubai, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Singapore...
then I'm not really sure where we're going, but we'll do it 3 times.
I'll do my best to update the site with pics and info. If I know you, I'll miss you!
I think I figured this Twitter thing out, hopefully it will help
keep you informed on my silly life. I'll be able to send emails updates through it but no pics, while at sea

Planktos
It seems that offsetting carbon will soon be more than just self-righteous bumperstickers
It soon will probably be a profitable business. Planktos was one such business venture, that in my opinion had some
pretty amazing ideas to use very small Iron particles to induce plankton blooms in the ocean, which would then "fix" large amounts of atmospheric CO2
is a little podcast I found from the Popular Science website that covers the quick life and death of this company
and the not so distant future of the carbon sequestration biz

Daniel Johnston
I'm sure most of you have heard of ol Daniel, but I've had a recent re-obsession with his music,
it's insane how many musicians this guy must have influenced. There would be no Modest Mouse, no Mountain Goats
probably a lot of others. Check out this documentary if you havn't seen it, it'll blow your mind.
