I recently returned from spending 6 months working as a deckhand on an APL container ship. It was traveling from New York to Singapore, via the Suez Canal, with a few stops along the way (Oman,Sri Lanka, Dubai, Pakistan). After about 5 months, we went into drydock in Singapore for two weeks, then picked up on a new Pacific run. Stopping at Korea, Japan, and China before returning to the US, hitting LA and then finally letting me off at home in San Francisco. It was a great adventure, full of great characters, hardships, and some pretty lonely times. I have just started working my way back through the imagery and sort of re-interpereting it through paint.
