Martin creates work that reflects his experiences in the world, mainly reflecting on time spent at sea through various job opportunities. With a bad habit of constantly experimenting with various mediums and materials, I, I mean Martin, recreates these experiences through the use of photography, paint, video, film, as well as materials more commonly found around ships such as epoxy, fiberglass, and seawater. Common themes in his work are: the passing and compression of time, labor, leisure, theatricality, escapism, and the ever-changing west. Martin told me to tell you he hopes you enjoy checking out his work.
Martin did some school and got an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007 and a BFA from UC Santa Barbara in 2003
He currently lives and works in San Francisco
